Turning a house into homes; Annapolis Royal woman raises $1,000 for Project H.O.P.E.

When Donna Shea learned how many people wanted to get a peek inside her unique home in Annapolis Royal she decided to throw her doors open and let them.

She chose to make it into a community building initiative fundraising for Project H.O.P.E., adding a silent auction and inviting local artists to showcase and sell their work at the event.

Project H.O.P.E. [Housing Outreach and Peer Empowerment] provides Nova Scotians living in Kings, Annapolis and Digby Counties who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless with assistance searching for affordable housing, landlord/tenant resolution and tenancy support and support to maintain housing in the community.

The team also offers trustee services to individuals living in Kings, Annapolis, Digby and Colchester Counties.

Shea was inspired to raise funds for Project H.O.P.E. because she wanted to do “something to help” tackle homelessness and provide relief for vulnerable Nova Scotians.

The event, held on November 12, 2023 attracted 50 guests and raised $1,000 for  Project H.O.P.E.

“I wish I could have raised more money but do hope that this amount helps in some small way,” Shea said when presenting Project H.O.P.E Lead Hannah Scott with the donation in December.
