Remembrance Day and Mental Health

Just as ceremonies and poppy sales have gone virtual, so too have many mental health services.

The Canadian Mental Health Association Nova Scotia Division Mental Health (CMHA NS)  encourages everyone to honour the sacrifices of those who have served their country, and those who stand proudly behind them. If you know a service member, veteran, or caregiver who may need a helping hand, encourage them to step forward to get the supports they need.

Under the cloud of Pandemic, many veterans may still be facing increased social isolation and, in some cases, fewer mental health supports to help mitigate the impact of operational stress injuries, transitions to civilian life, and other mental health challenges unique to the veteran community. There are several resources to support veterans and their families. The federal government’s Wellness Together Canada portal is also available at no cost to anyone seeking mental health support.
