Halifax Mooseheads and Cape Breton Eagles, CMHA Nova Scotia Division partner for Talk Today game in support of mental health awareness

The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League have partnered with Canadian Mental Health Association, Nova Scotia Division to host two Talk Today games in support of mental health awareness in February.

On February 3 at 7:00 p.m. the Cape Breton Eagles take on the Charlottetown Islanders at Centre 200 in Sydney and on February 8, the Halifax Mooseheads take on the Saint John Sea Dogs at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax at 7:00 p.m.

Talk Today, an initiative of CMHA Nova Scotia Division in partnership with CMHAs nationwide, collaborates with amateur sports organizations across Canada to bring mental health awareness and suicide-prevention training to young athletes.

This season, Talk Today is celebrating a major milestone – its 10th season of supporting junior hockey.

The key piece of the Talk Today program has been to educate players about mental health and suicide prevention, in addition to linking each team to a CMHA Mental Health Coach who provides support and mental health resources to individuals in need.

Since its launch in 2014, Talk Today has delivered suicide prevention training and provided resources to approximately 7,600 athletes as well as nearly 1,000 coaches, billets, parents and team staff in junior hockey, and high school, college and university athletics.

Tickets for both games are still available.
