Carolyn Sloan | Provincial Lead – Education and Training [Interim]

An advocate for peer support and grassroots community building, Carolyn Sloan is excited to be a member of the CMHA-NS team over the coming year. With firsthand experience of mental illness and recovery, she feels particularly fortunate to have a hand in supporting individuals and communities to build resilience and strengthen one another. 

Raised in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Carolyn is a former journalist and non-profit administrator with a love of rural life. Within Nova Scotia and Nunavut, she has over 15 years of experience supporting adults labeled with a disability in develop capacities around self-advocacy, self-care, and employment skills. 

In her spare time, Carolyn volunteers with the Halifax Contra Dances Community Group. She is a committed practitioner of Nonviolent Communication and peer-based secular recovery. 

Carolyn is very excited to be moving back to the Annapolis Valley this summer.
