Amy Denton | Housing Support Worker

Hope has been a guiding force in Amy Denton’s life. Maintaining hope while living with mental illness found Amy returning to college as a mature student to study Mental Health Recovery and Promotion.

Amy’s lived experience, educational background and professional experience make her a relatable and compassionate ally in her role as a Housing Support Worker with Project H.O.P.E. (Housing Outreach Peer Empowerment).

Amy works to empower the individuals she supports through genuine connection and allyship. Amy hopes to be the change she wants to see in the world, and feels it is a privilege and an honour to advocate for and support individuals experiencing homelessness or precarious living situations in rural Nova Scotia.

In addition to her role at CMHA NS, Amy volunteers at the Digby & Area Housing Coalition. She and her husband spend their free time building their homestead in the woods with their two sons, dog, cats, and many chickens.

When not working, Amy enjoys being outdoors with her animals, tending to her budding food forest, walking in the woods, and relaxing at the lake with her family.
