Let us help you create a mentally healthier workplace
Twenty percent of Canadians will experience a diagnosed mental illness in their lifetime but more than 40% will experience challenges with their mental health during their working years. Of those 40%, 2 out of 3 people suffer in silence fearing judgment rather than seeking treatment.
Work with us to ensure your employees and members get the support they need. A psychologically healthy and safe workplace is within your reach.
All-Staff Presentations
CMHA NS Division offers customized presentations for your workplace, either as a presentation or a workshop.
Topics for larger staff groups may include:

- Communication Skills for Psychological Safety: Participants will be offered guidelines around communicating with their colleagues in a way that promotes mental safety and supports wellness (30 minutes).
- Introduction to Psychological Health and Safety Standards: This session provides an overview of the national voluntary Psychological Health and Safety Standards and guidance on how organizations can begin implementation (1 hour).
- Burnout, Boundaries, and Self-Care: This module is a combination of PowerPoint presentations and interactive group work. Workplaces can play an essential part in maintaining positive mental health. A supportive work environment fosters mental health, providing purpose and stability. Companies with high levels of mental health awareness report less absenteeism, higher employee retention and a stronger workforce. Mental Health in the Workplace provides EMPLOYEES and EMPLOYERS with the tools and resources to successfully establish and maintain a healthy workplace.

Changing Minds is a comprehensive, easy to understand, interactive workshop designed to help members of the public understand mental illness, its impact and how to better support a person living with a mental illness.
Living Life to the Full
Based on the Five Areas Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Living Life to the Full examines the connection between what we think, feel and do. Just as an event, thought, feeling, behaviour or physical symptom can start a chain reaction that gets us down, so we can reverse the process and use this interconnection to rebuild happiness.
Resilient Minds
Resilient MindsTM is an evidence-informed, peer-to-peer, skill-building program designed by and for career and volunteer firefighters across Canada to develop strategies to mitigate and better manage occupational stress and enhance personal resilience, resulting in informed and healthier teams.
