Are you a community-minded individual passionate about mental health? The Board of Directors for the Canadian Mental Health Association, Nova Scotia Division (CMHA-NS) is seeking individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences across the province who share a commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of all Nova Scotians.

About the Role:  

As a board member, you will: 


✅ Play a key role in guiding our strategic direction 
✅ Contribute to the mission and success of the organization 
✅ Support and strengthen community-based initiatives 

CMHA-NS holds six board meetings per fiscal year using a hybrid model (virtual and in-person). Meetings typically last two hours, and board members are expected to participate in at least one committee.

Founded in 1908, CMHA Nova Scotia is one of Canada’s oldest mental health charities. We foster recovery and well-being through programs that support Nova Scotians with housing, employment, workplace training programs, education, and peer support.  We work with our branches in Halifax-Dartmouth, Colchester East-Hants, and Southwest Nova to promote mental health and support the recovery of individuals facing mental illness across the province.  

CMHA – NS is proudly accredited under Imagine Canada’s National Standards Program. The Standards Program is a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and nonprofits designed to strengthen practices in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.
