The Canadian Mental Health Association Nova Scotia Division is looking for a passionate and self-motivated individual to lead the Education and Training team during an exciting time of growth.

JOB DESCRIPTION: As a member of the CMHA-Nova Scotia Division Leadership team, we are looking for a transformational leader for the Education and Training program.
The Education and Training Lead will oversee and support initiatives, goals and workplan of the program. The Lead will support all people working for or collaborating with the program.
The Lead is active in developing and facilitating mental health training and programs to various sectors and individuals, building program structure and workplans adhering to program goals and objectives,and developing partnerships with other CMHA’s and local organizations.
Overall, the Lead’s position is required to be organized with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives and workplans, yet be quite flexible to adapt to support and work in any of the program areas to ensure all workplans remain on track.
LOCATION: This position is virtual|home-based, with minimal travel required from time to time.

ABOUT THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING TEAM: The Education and Training team at CMHA-NS are a tightly-knit team dedicated to providing all Nova Scotians with accessible and relevant wellness programs.
They support a broad catalogue of programs and experiences, including THRIVE Learning Centre for Mental Wellness and Wellbeing, Resilient Minds, ASIST, Changing Minds and Mental Health in the Workplace.
They are also responsible for the design and delivery of custom programming at organizations across the province.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provincial Strategic and Operational Leadership: 50%▪
- The efficient and successful operations of the Education and Training team.
- Active contribution to CMHA and Education and Training’s vision, strategic goals, objectives, project core actions, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Lead day-to-day Education and Training team operations.
- Lead, guide, and mentor the Education and Training team staff by demonstrating positive team engagement and active team culture of trust, transparency,and collaboration.
- Regular facilitation of mental health training and psychosocial wellness programming.
- Source appropriate funding opportunities as well as researching and writing of grant applications as appropriate and in accordance with the Education and Training’s vision and strategic goals.
- Comply to terms and conditions of grant funding guidelines, deliverable and outlines.
- Submit project reports, data monitoring and financial expense oversight and submission of staff and project financial paperwork n collaboration with the CMHA NS ED and Education staff members.
- Lead the strategic direction of the Education and Training team.
- Develop, shape, inform and implement Education and Training workplan, strategic plan and supporting activities with a focus on long range planning, proactive thinking, and project scheduling.
- Develop quarterly roadmap (30-60-90).
- Along with CMHA-NS Leadership Team contribute to building team culture across the organization and across the province.
Partnership/Program Development: 25%
- Plan and oversee various Education and Awareness projects and received grants to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion by designating project roles, resources and budgets; and monitor progress to ensure relevant stakeholders are informed and engaged through reporting.
- Build and maintain existing strategic partnerships and engage with both CMHA National and local Nova Scotian organizations regarding education and training initiatives to plan, develop, build capacity, and implement in CMHA Nova Scotia.
- Search, identify, prepare, and submit grant applications ensuring the proposals and budgets align with Education and Training strategic goals and vision and the long-term goals and aims of CMHA-NS.
People Development 25%
- Recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ contract employees as appropriate.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities through effective performance feedback.
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals while fostering a spirit of teamwork and unity among program staff that emphasizes the values and vision of CMHA NS.
- Maintain employee work schedules, assignments, job rotations, training, vacation, time off, cover for absenteeism, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (37.5 hours/week). This position requires a combination of working in a home office environment and in community with our stakeholders. We offer a flexible work environment and a workplace culture committed to personal wellbeing and psychological safety.
COMPENSATION:Commensurate with experience. Range: $56,000to $60,000 (fair market value within the sector)
EQUIPMENT:The employer will provide necessary office equipment for the employee’s use while employed with CMHA NSEducation and Training. This includes a laptop computer, printer/scanner, and cell phone.A valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required.Reimbursement will be paid at a per/kilometer rate.The employee is responsible to have reliable internet service.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary/experience in education/adult education or related studies.
- Knowledge of community mental health.
- Leadership experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365.
