JOB POSTING: Peer Support Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION: As a member of the Education and Training department, the Peer Support
Coordinator will be responsible for the Peer Support Incubation Hub and the Thrive Learning Centre.
This role includes, but is not limited to, developing, implementing and managing the Peer Support
Incubation Hub and ongoing management of the Thrive Learning Centre.

ABOUT OUR EDUCATION AND TRAINING TEAM: The Education and Training team at CMHA-NS are a tightly-knit team dedicated to providing all Nova Scotians with accessible and relevant wellness programs. They support a broad catalogue of programs and experiences, including THRIVE Learning Centre for Mental Wellness and Wellbeing, Resilient Minds, ASIST, Changing Minds and Mental Health in the Workplace. They are also responsible for the design and delivery of custom programming at organizations across the province.

PREFERRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
● Mental Health – Strong understanding of mental health issues and recovery principles.
Programming – Experience with program and curriculum development as well as appreciation
and knowledge of program evaluation principles and processes.
EDIRA – Strong understanding of EDIRA principles and able to incorporate into programs.
People Management – Ability to train, supervise, and motivate peer support partners.
Self-Management – Strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to initiate self
management.
Strong Communicator – Strong interpersonal and communication skills (virtual, in person, print)
Community Builder – Ability to strategize and plan outreach to garner community engagement.
Training – Facilitation experience and understanding of adult learning principles.
● Problem Solver – Ability to solve problems creatively.
Analytical and Creative Thinker – Excellent analytical and evaluation skills and ability to think
outside the box.
● Collaborative Work Ethic ability to toggle between independent and collaborative work as
needed.

LOCATION: Nova Scotia

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position, working generally from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (37.5 hours/week). This position requires a combination of working in a home office environment and in community, with our community stakeholders. We offer a flexible work environment and a workplace culture committed to personal wellbeing and psychological safety.A valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required. Reimbursement will be paid as per the Expense Policy.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (37.5
hours/week), with some flexibility as outlined in the Flexible Work Arrangements Policy. This
position requires a combination of working in a home office environment and in community with our
stakeholders. We offer a workplace culture committed to personal wellbeing and psychological
safety. A valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required. Reimbursement will
be paid at a per/kilometre rate.

EQUIPMENT: The employer will provide necessary office equipment as outlined in the Working from
Home policy for the employee’s use while employed with CMHA NS. The employee is required to
have reliable high-speed internet.

COMPENSATION: : Commensurate with experience. Range: Level II $55,000 to 60,000 (fair market value within the sector)
