CMHA NS is proud to announce Hannah Scott as Project H.O.P.E. Team Lead

ANNOUNCEMENT

Karn Nichols, Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association Nova Scotia Division [CMHA NS], is pleased to announce the appointment of Hannah Scott to the role Provincial Lead of the Project H.O.P.E. Team [Housing Outreach and Peer Empowerment] effective Monday, February 13, 2023.

“Hannah is taking on this role at a pivotal time,” says Karn Nichols, Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association Nova Scotia Division.

“We are in a housing crisis with no end in sight. Housing is a human right, and a necessity for good mental health. Hannah is deeply committed to ensuring that every Nova Scotian has a safe, affordable place to call home and live in good mental health. I hope everyone will join me in welcoming Hannah to her new role. I know she will lead her team with kindness, integrity and hope.”

Scott, who takes over the role from Laurel Taylor, brings 10 years of professional experience in mental health and housing support services.

Addtionally, Scott has been volunteering with CMHA since she was a child, and has witnessed firsthand the positive difference that peer-support, advocacy, and community outreach can provide.

“Laurel Taylor was an amazing leader,” says Scott.

“I admire her immensely and have a profound level of respect for her as a person and the work that she has done. I am thrilled to be her successor and to lead our incredible team as we move forward.”

In addition to her work with the CMHA NS Division, she is also a part of Peer Support Nova Scotia, and takes part in regular community sessions that explore peer support best practices.

When not working, Scott can be found hiking Nova Scotia’s beautiful trails with her two dogs, painting, drinking tea, or spending quality time with her friends and family.
