Psychological health and safety training for firefighters available in Kingston NS February 25 and 26

Canadian Mental Health Association Nova Scotia Division [CMHA NS] and the Hantsport Fire Department are proud to offer a free psychological health and safety program for Nova Scotia’s firefighters.

The program, called Resilient Minds, is a comprehensive, four-module prevention workshop designed specifically for first responders to support them in areas of psychological trauma and workplace stress.

To date, Resilient Minds workshops have been hosted in Wolfville, Kentville and Waterville.

On Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26, Resilient Minds will be hosted IN PERSON by the Kingston Fire Department, located at 570 Sparky St, Kingston, Nova Scotia.

The workshop runs both days between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and is open to any firefighter who resides in rural Nova Scotia free of charge thanks to grant funding from the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.

“During their careers fire fighters are exposed to an abundance of horrific scenes that can adversely impact their mental health,” says CMHA NS Provincial Education and Training Lead, Elizabeth Baker.

“By offering this training to firefighters, and supporting their mental health, we are helping to build stronger communities.”
