THRIVE Learning Centre for Mental Wellness and Well-Being
Mental health. It wasn’t a class at school. So where can Nova Scotians go to learn about mental health and well-being? The answer is “THRIVE.”
THRIVE is a virtual learning centre that provides accessible, low-barrier mental health education, equipping individuals with the skills and tools to promote and support their mental well-being.
THRIVE is low barrier:
✅ No clinical referral needed
✅ No diagnosis required
✅ Fully virtual – join from anywhere!
THRIVE workshops are designed to be supportive learning environments where everyone is welcome, whatever your mental health goals.
THRIVE workshops run from October to June. A new course calendar is released each quarter. There are no workshops in July, August or September.

April Workshops
The Art of Well-Being: Finding Meaning through Drawing | April 16 | 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Join guest facilitator Gerard McNeil for an interactive workshop that harnesses creativity as a tool for mental well-being. Through guided drawing exercises, you’ll explore the people, places, and experiences that bring meaning and purpose to your life, fostering self-reflection, resilience, and emotional balance. No artistic experience is needed—just an open mind and a willingness to connect with yourself in a new way.
Shine with Purpose: Aligning Values with Leadership | April 24 | 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Embrace your unique journey with mindfulness, value-centered leadership, and the power of live music. This interactive workshop offers a supportive space for reflection, confidence-building, and aligning your purpose with meaningful action.
Together, we’ll explore how leading with values fosters resilience, ethical decision-making, and deeper connections. Gain practical strategies to navigate burnout, support mental well-being, and move forward with clarity, authenticity, and balance—whether in business, entrepreneurship, or everyday life.
Understanding our Mental Health | April 29 | 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Did you know you can live with a mental illness and still be in good mental health, or have no mental illness and still struggle with your mental well-being?
In this workshop, we’ll help you understand the difference between mental health and mental illness. We’ll clear up common myths, look at the factors that affect mental health, and introduce two different mental health models. You’ll also have time to start creating your own personal mental health plan, with tools to help you and others stay well.

As a not-for-profit charitable organization, we rely on the generousity of those who give what they can to keep our programs running and remain accessible. Donations to THRIVE allow us to offer these workshops completely free of charge.
By supporting THRIVE you are helping more Nova Scotians support and understand their own mental health. This helps more Nova Scotians stay out of crisis and out of emergency rooms.
Who can offer a workshop?
Workshops are developed by individuals with lived experience in collaboration with our education team. Through our programming we work to provide a sense of possibility and encourage new perspectives.
