CMHA celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day
Jun 6, 2022
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day — a day for Canadians to come together, reflect on and celebrate the unique heritage, traditions, and knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs.
For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.
Not just today, but every day, the Canadian Mental Health Association commits to a journey of learning, healing and reconciliation to address the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
As allies we can also support Indigenous culture by sharing and retweeting posts shared by Indigenous organizations and content creators.
