WORKSHOP SERIES: Newcomer Mental Health
Most of us find moving to a new city challenging, so imagine the challenges that come with moving to a new country!
Newcomers face a number of challenges when relocating, including finding housing, employment and healthcare services, often while facing language barriers and coping with isolation.
This series is designed to provide newcomers with the knowledge and skills to support their mental health and well-being, while connecting them with the community.
Over three separate workshops, facilitators Abdullah and Livinus will discuss effective strategies for coping with common mental health challenges newcomers face and outline the resources and services available to support newcomers and how to access them. [Examples include: settlement agencies, language classes, community wellness programs and the tools needed to locate mental health supports and other services.]
