June 27 is PTSD Awareness Day. PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder] is a type of anxiety disorder that can appear following a traumatic event in someone’s life.
About one in 10 Canadians live with PTSD [Valiant Behavioural Health]. It can affect anyone, regardless of socio-economic status, gender, age, nationality or vocation, but harmful misconceptions about PTSD and stigma can prevent people from being diagnosed and getting the help they need and deserve.
