CMHA 100 – Celebrate with us!
CMHA – founded in 1918 by Dr. Clarence Hincks as the Canadian National Committee for Mental Hygiene. Facilities and help for those with mental health issues were grossly inadequate. Soldiers coming back from war were not being helped, and nothing was being done about prevention. The Canadian National Committee for Mental Hygiene was founded to address those issues.
CMHA NS Division has been around longer than CMHA National, however CMHA is a federation of branches, regions, and divisions that have grown up from the grassroots and joined the federation over time. We are recognizing all CMHA’s.
